Koopman has contributed to several book chapters on the management of stone disease and the use of molecular targeted imaging strategies in the staging of kidney cancer. Koopman practices general urology and specializes in a variety of areas which include: complex surgical and medical management of stone disease, laparoscopic and robotic management of both benign and malignant urologic disease processes including robotic prostatectomy and cystectomy, laparoscopic nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. He recently completed a two year fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.ĭr. He completed an internship and urology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He graduated from the Princeton University and completed medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Koopman is a fellowship trained endourologist with privileges at Swedish Covenant Hospital, Northshore University HealthSystem in Skokie, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Resurrection St. Young, an accomplished, board certified researcher, clinician, and administrator, has headed Urology sections at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. In the future, he hopes to develop novel systemic and intravesical therapies to improve survival of patients with bladder cancer. In addition, he is studying the “driver mutations found in bladder cancer. Specifically, he is studying how chromatin remodeling genes play a role in bladder cancer. His research interests focus on both the epigenetics and genetic mutations associated with cancer biology. His clinical efforts focus on minimally invasive and open urologic oncology with a particular interest in bladder and prostate cancer. He received his medical degree from the Rush Medical College. Tsambarlis has obtained subspecialty training in the field of men’s health with an emphasis on male sexual health and prostate cancer survivorship. He received his MD and PhD degrees from Northwestern University in 2005, completed his urology residency at Northwestern University in 2011, and a urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer in 2012. Biography Peter Tsambarlis, MD, joins Rush as an assistant professor of Urology.
